5 Shoes Styles Every Man Should Own
Women understand the value of shoes, and that is the reason they often have more than we will ever understand, but that doesn’t mean that we, as men, cannot learn from our female counterparts about how and why shoes can make or break your style. It is time to toss out those beat up old sneakers that you wear with everything and I am going to share with you five of the best shoe styles that you should have in your closet.
Let’s start with a more versatile shoe that still can match style with sophistication. The high end casual shoe, whether it is canvas, suede or leather can your go-to, every day shoe. While not suitable for formal occasions, the high end casual can accent your style whether it be chinos and a chambray or khaki shorts and a summer shirt. Style and comfort can be all in one.
The Oxford style shoe has been around for centuries. Originating in Europe, this shoe became more popular in the US in the 1800’s, and has never gone out of style over 200 years later. The Oxford is relatively versatile and can transform a casual look or accent a suit. This is why the Oxford is one of the best shoes to have in your closet (or a couple pairs of different colors).
Loafers are the quintessential summer shoe. Preppy and stylish, they go great with a pair of shorts or ankle bearing pants.
Most often, you will see the wingtip being worn primarily for formal settings, like weddings or black tie events, but the wingtip can also be worn for many occasions. You can go from a formal event to a night out with friends. The wingtip is relatively versatile and can compliment a variety of style choices.
The Athletic Shoe
Listen, you are going to work out, you are going to sweat, and you are going to put some miles on your shoes in and out of the gym, so if you are athletic and active, than you need a shoe that fits the goal. While having a onset of nice shoes in your wardrobe, you also need the shoes for the job. Don’t underestimate a good pair of cross trainers while you lift weights or hit the trails for a run/hike.
